Professor Sir Cato T. Laurencin Awarded the Highest Honor of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists

Sir Cato T. Laurencin, M.D., Ph.D., a member of Alkermes’ Board of Directors, is the recipient of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Award, the organization’s highest honor. The award recognizes individuals whose scientific achievements and leadership have made a lasting impact on pharmaceutical sciences. 

Dr. Laurencin is internationally recognized in the areas of biomaterials, drug delivery, and regenerative engineering, a field that he helped found and pioneer. His work has contributed to breakthrough technologies and therapeutic innovations that have affected countless patients.  In receiving the AAPS Distinguished Pharmaceutical Scientist Award, he was specifically recognized for his work on polymeric nanofiber and nanoparticle chemistry. In addition to his scientific contributions, Dr. Laurencin is widely respected for his commitment to mentorship and the translation of research into clinical practice.
