Our Chemistry
Our approach to medicinal chemistry has become an important component of our discovery and early development of product candidates to treat a broad range of diseases where known targets play a role. Specifically, we are leveraging focused, proprietary libraries of compounds to identify new drug leads. Our library contains drug-like molecules to which we apply medicinal chemistry to modify the structure and design new molecules with the goal of enhancing various drug attributes, such as duration of action, absorption and metabolism. Our targeted changes can lead to the creation of novel molecules with the potential to offer benefits over existing medications, including better dosing regimens and improved drug metabolism, which may result in enhanced safety and efficacy.
We are currently leveraging our unique chemistry insights to develop new molecules targeting central nervous system diseases. Our first two development candidates to emerge from our chemistry efforts are ALKS 33 for the treatment of addiction and ALKS 36 for the treatment of pain.
